With the popularity many “radio” preachers enjoy nowadays, I’m beginning to wonder and question if these men have become the draw rather than their message. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I’m a sucker for biblical preaching where the gospel is exalted above all else. But with the tremendous popularity these guys have received, it seems like the sheep seem to flock to the men rather than any message they have poured themselves over for days on end.
I dunno. It just strikes me as wrong, that’s all.
I love to hear a great sermon by Piper, Mahaney, Washer, White, Sproul, etc…but it just strikes me as sort of odd to observe the overwhelming press these guys get and not the Savior they preach.
They’ve sort of developed their own groupies as it were….unintentionally on their part of course, but none the less, it seems their are hordes of us that would give our eye tooth to “see them preach”.
Is it me?
I suppose Paul probably had the same problem. Hordes of believers following him around from town to town to sit under his preaching…there must have been a problem of “Paul worship” even then. After all, men’s hearts don’t change, so it must have been so.
