Michael Card and “Joy in the Journey”

I had mentioned a few posts back that one of my new found favorite musicians is John Michael Talbot. He truly has become a staple on my Palms music card.

But I thought I would also introduce my MOST favorite musician who was introduced to me a few years ago by a dear friend and father in the Lord.

Michael Card is one of very few who actually sings the Bible. Though it not be word for word, his lyrics have the ability to transcend any situation and float you along on wings of great doctrine and biblical comfort.

Here is an example of some of his work…it’s entitled “Joy in the Journey”. It is probably the one song you know of his, even if you never heard of Michael.

There is a joy in the journey
There’s a light we can love on the way
There is a wonder and wildness to life
And freedom for those who obey.

And all those who seek it shall find it
A pardon for all who believe
Hope for the hopeless and sight for the blind.

To all who’ve been born in the Spirit
And who share incarnation with Him
Who belong to eternity stranded in time
And weary of struggling with sin.

Forget not the hope that’s before you
And never stop counting the cost
Remember the hopelessness when you were lost.

There is a joy in the journey
There’s a light we can love on the way
There is a wonder and wildness to life
And freedom for those who obey.

And freedom for those who obey…
